OpenView Expands Leadership Team with Promotion of John McCullough to Partner and Addition of Kate Ramirez as CFO

Today, OpenView, the expansion stage venture firm, announced the addition of John McCullough to its partnership and the addition of a new CFO, Kate Ramirez.

“Since the founding of the firm in 2006, we’ve focused on building a diverse, yet cohesive team.” said Scott Maxwell, OpenView’s Founder and a Partner at the firm. “These two additions to our leadership team are the natural next step in expanding the firm’s leadership and setting us up for the future.”

McCullough joined the firm in 2015 as Vice President of Corporate Development, helping create and execute M&A and capital raise outcomes across the portfolio, establishing relationships with best-fit strategic and capital markets partners, and leading portfolio exit planning. With his promotion to Partner, McCullough will also join OpenView’s Investment Committee and take a leadership role in Investor Relations.

“John has been instrumental in developing OpenView’s Corporate Development Practice, and rethinking how we approach exit strategies for our portfolio,” said Maxwell. “We’re excited to welcome him to the partnership in 2019.”

Prior to joining OpenView, John was Director of Corporate Development at Rocket Software, a global enterprise software company, where he drove acquisition execution. Before Rocket, John focused on M&A as an investment banker at Barclays Capital, and he has also held various roles within the asset management industry.

OpenView also announced the addition of their new CFO, Kate Ramirez, to succeed Bonnie Lewis who is shifting into the newly formed role of Executive Finance & Audit Chair.

Ramirez was formerly the Fund Controller at Guidepost Growth Equity. Prior to that, Ramirez was a Finance Manager at Bain Capital and the Controller at Great Hill Partners. She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked in the Financial Services Assurance group.

“We constantly evaluate how we can continue to up-level and expand our leadership and bring new ideas to the table,” said Maxwell. “From my first conversation with Kate, I knew she would embody OpenView’s values and help us to achieve our mission to improve people’s working lives.”
